Rwanda Church Emergency Help - support still needed!

Most church buildings in our partners dioceses remain closed until they meet the building regulations introduced in recent years. Work has been done and some parishes are waiting for an inspection to allow them to re-open. However, many rural parishes are struggling with both the amount of work required and the costs.

The consequences are serious. No services means no offerings, so no income for pastors or for the dioceses. Our 'Rwanda 9.24' appeal has made more than £5600 (9,850,000 RWF) available to help meet the practical needs of pastors in our two partner dioceses. As you can imagine, this has made a huge difference to their lives over recent months.

We have also been able to increase our monthly support for parishes significantly, which is now being invested in long-term income-generating projects (banana and coffee plantations, animal husbandry etc) which are already providing extra income for parishes to use in meeting building regulations as well as helping the needs of individuals.

So far, 33 pastors and their families have been helped with their everyday costs of living and in the last month we have been able to cover medical expenses for two older pastors - one with cancer and another with diabetes.  So to all who have given - THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Our Emergency Help Fund remains open, so if you want to contribute please click the Donate button on the right, select the method of payment, tick the Emergency Help Fund and indicate the amount being given or pledged. Then proceed as required.

All Emergency Help donations will be sent to meet the personal needs of pastors and their families. Our partner Bishops in Byumba and Gasabo will oversee the distribution of these donations.
